Backpacking

You can walk for hours on the tracks around Bou-Jerif and go see the FOrt, the Oasis, the towers, the Oued with its frogs, turtles, and other small animals... You can do all that without running into anyone or maybe only sheep and goats, and dromedaries and their shepherd.

While backpacking in the area, you'll be able to see a multitude of interesting animals such as jackals, foxes, gazelles, but also lizards, and even snakes (the region is famous for its cobras and other reptiles).

A particularly interesting excursion consists of going down the Oued Assaka all the way to its end ("Foum Assaka"), picnic there and then come back. It takes about 3 hours one way. You can either come back on the main track for more comfort or have a 4x4 pickup set up in advance.
